Message From the Fire Chief:

The fire company is now completing its 96th year of protecting the residents of Millersville Borough, Manor Township, a small section of Conestoga Township, including visitors, students and faculty of Millersville University.

Additionally, the members of the Millersville Fire Company continue to train extremely hard, both in the station and classes outside of the station.  They also provide fire prevention classes to school students of all ages, care facility residences and public service groups.  These facts are documented throughout this year-end report.

When called upon through the 911 center, apparatus is staffed by the volunteer members during each and every emergency.  Sometimes all six vehicles, when needed, are staffed by the volunteer members.

You will see in this report the estimated dollar lost at fires to which we responded to.  However, the report does not reflect the millions of dollars saved by the hard work of our volunteer members.

The volunteer members have also stepped up to the plate to be certified in a variety of rescue programs offered by the State.  These programs include written and practical testing, often of which are over more than one day.

The Collapse Team continues to be a valuable asset to Lancaster County.  In 2007, we assisted other fire companies 13 times with our expertise.  We just recently started to expand our trained membership group with the addition of four other fire organizations.  This bigger group will be known as the “Lancaster County Rescue Task Force Group.”  We also continue to expand our relationship with other specialized rescue teams in an eight-county region.  This group is known as the “South Central PA Counter Terrorism Task Force.” Within this group, we are known as the “Rescue Strike Team 36.”

Every resident, municipal leader, college official, visitor, who live, work or visit in the district which we serve should be very proud of our volunteer members and their families for their dedication to the community and their willingness to volunteer.

The Millersville Fire Company is looking forward to the many new challenges 2008 may bring.

In closing, my team works at being the very best – I believe they are!
