Electrical Problem Causes Fire in a Townhouse Row

Engine 6-5-4 and Truck 6-7

An electrical malfunction causes basement fire in the Crossgates Development in a townhouse row.

Crews arrived to find an electric meter arching on the rear of the dwelling. The meter shorted and caused a fire in the ceiling area in the basement of the dwelling. The short also caused an issue in the neighboring townhouse. Once PPL disconnected the power the crews quickly extinguished the fire and ventilated both homes.

While at this incident a second incident developed in another townhouse accross the street down the block. It to was electrical in nature. PPL disconnected the power to this dwelling too.

Engine 6-5-4 , Engine 6-5-2, Rescue 6-5, Squad 6-5-3, Rescue 6-5 responded from the 6-5 house and were assisted by Truck 6-7, Engine 6-6-1, Engine 5-5-1, Engine 7-8-1, Engine 5-3-1, Air 6-6, and EMS 6-12. Crews operated over two hours.
