The Millersville Fire Company has a rich history that we are very proud of. The fire company was first established in 1911 by a group of towns people. The first apparatus
during this time were hand-drawn chemical carts. The members strategically placed these chemical carts throughout town in people’s garages and businesses. A town bell was later purchased to alert the firemen when a fire broke out. The number of times that the bell was rung would tell the firemen which end of town the fire was located. Firemen who heard the bell ring would respond to the fire with the closest chemical carts.
In 1920, the members built Millersville's first firehouse located down the street from today’s location. In the 1930’s, the Fire Company purchased their first motorized engines. They also purchased their first gas masks during these years. The Fire Company had large festivals to help pay for the operation of the company during the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.

In 1950, we built a new firehouse, and moved to the location where we are currently located. We later built an addition to this firehouse in 1969. Throughout the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, we continued to upgrade our motorized apparatus to what you see on the "Apparatus" page. During the 1980s, we expanded our rescue capabilities with hydraulic rescue tools. In the 1990s, we expanded our rescue capabilities even further with rope, trench, and other specialized equipment.
