Rescue Task Force Assist Station 5-6 with Cave Rescue

Approx 5:00pm on Friday, Station 5-6 (Pequea Fire) was dispatched to an Environmental Rescue to an area known as "Wind Cave" in Martic Township. Station 5-6 along with two other Rescues (5-12 Willow St and 5-7 Quarryville) and numerous Squads for manpower were dispatched. The cave entrance was approx 4,000 ft from the hard road, along a trail in the woods over looking the Lake Aldred.

Crews made contact with two cavers trapped approx 150ft inside the cave. One caver was stuck in a narrow crevasses, blocking the exit of the second person. The crews from 5-6 and 5-12 soaked the trapped caver and were able to free him.

Command in preparation for the next operational period had the Rescue Task Force Dispatched. Both Cavers were freed just as the Rescue Task Force arrived. The Task Force provided only support to the crews leaving the area and removed the orignial equipement cashe.

The Task Force responded with 20 members.
